Overview
Covering about 86 square kilometres, Mykonos centres on Chora, whose whitewashed houses, blue shutters and maze-like lanes are its signature. The Kato Mili windmills stand by the water, and the Little Venice quarter has houses built right onto the sea, busiest at sunset. Paradise and Super Paradise beaches line the coast, and the archaeological site of Delos is a short boat ride away.
History
An important trading and religious centre in antiquity, with nearby Delos held as the birthplace of Apollo; it became an international resort in the late 20th century.
