Overview
The Sagrada Família is Gaudí's masterpiece. Begun in 1882, it is still under construction, and its unique style and intricate detail are breathtaking.
History
Gaudí took over the design of the Basílica de la Sagrada Família in 1883 and devoted the last 43 years of his life to it. After his death in 1926 work continued. Pope Benedict XVI consecrated it as a minor basilica in 2010. More than 140 years in the making, it is expected to be completed around 2026, the centenary of Gaudí's death, and was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2010.
